*This is kind of long, but I wanted to share these thoughts I have been
thinking.*
What is it going to take to wake up this generation.
How can we make them see that sex is not what they need.
It is like they
are walking around with no sense of right or wrong. It seems morality means
nothing to them. It is as if there sense of right and wrong is asleep. They are
blinded to the harsh realities. Sin has consequences, but it is like they do not
even care, because they cannot see the truth that is right in front of them. It
is as if they cannot distinguish between good and evil. They run to the bad. It
is like they are living a nightmare, unaware of the tragedies. How can we wake
up this generation to see, fulfilling their lusts is not going to fill the void
of emptiness they feel inside and try to fill with all the million lies satan
tells that they do not even realize are lies until they have swallowed the bait
and sunk deep into the pit of sin, sinking deeper with each breath they take
breathing the disgusting air that everything is fine, when in reality their
sinful lifestyle is leading them straight to hell.
How can we wake them
up to see Hollywood is lying. MTV and VH1 do not have their best interests at
heart. The latest magazine may claim they have the answer to their problems the
quick fix to supply their need, heal their heart and get their life on the right
track, but the truth is, the only one true way is found in Jesus Christ, not
another music video, rap lyric, one-night stand, drunken party, or snort of
marijuana.
My heart aches for this generation….my generation, and the
hundreds of children growing up in the culture that we live in. Yet, I have sit
idly by for far to long, having the answer tucked within me, yet barely daring
to take a stand and share the light of Jesus to the millions of lost and dying
people searching for the answer to the problems they face, to the emptiness and
loneliness they feel inside, crying tears of sorrow on their pillows each night
before they finally drift off to an unpleasant sleep filled with dreams of a
better day, yet they awaken in the morning to the brutality of the truth, they
are no more closer to their freedom then they were before they turned out the
light the night before, because they are still searching for happiness in a
bottle, in a pill, in a thrill, in anything and everything within their reach,
trying to ease the wound that festers with pain and hurt, increasing with each
passing day.
This generation seems to thrive on anything and everything
that has to do with sex. It’s like their minds are perverted, yet they are numb
to the fact it is perverted. Sex outside of marriage is so common these days, we
live in a sex saturated world where the sanctity of marriage is defiled. Many
people no longer realize the gift God gave humans to be experienced within a
sacred covenant, that covenant is marriage. His rules for that gift have not
changed. Many people just choose to ignore the rules and act prematurely on
fulfilling their sexual desires and needs, when in reality they are cheapening
themselves and not getting the full benefit of sex. I am convinced they miss out
on the complete experience, when they participate in the act outside of
marriage.
Sure, Hollywood thrives on painting a neat little picture, a
pretty little package, with a tag that reads, “Fulfill your needs, no
consequences, no regrets, it’s all about you, the thrills and the blissful
feeling afterwards.” Hogwash. They lie. The truth is hundreds of teenagers have
some form of sex everyday and are left with an emptiness inside they cannot
quite explain, so they try to quench the nagging feeling by drinking, popping
pills, taking drugs, shopping, sitting numbly in front of the television, or
computer screen, or listening to the radio, or some secular CD, or reading the
latest magazine promising to have what they need, when in reality they are
miserable, many know it, many do not realize they are wallowing in misery, they
just know they are looking for something and haven’t found it yet. They need
Jesus Christ.
I heard somewhere that already this year there have been
reported over 19,000 cases of new STD’s right here in the United States of
America. With statistics like that, is doesn’t pay to be promiscuous. With
statistics like that, it confirms even more the need to get the message of Jesus
Christ to the lost and dying. It’s our job. We can argue there are enough
Preachers and Teachers, Singers, and Bloggers, Evangelists, Missionaries,
Christian Television, Radio, and Books, let them do the job. Without a doubt
there aren’t enough. It is going to take all of us to make a difference and lead
souls to Jesus Christ, carrying the gospel to those who are desperate for a cure
to heal their troubled soul, a drink to quench the dry desert deep inside. They
need the living water of Jesus Christ. What are we going to do about it?
It saddens me that teenagers are growing up in the culture they are
growing up in…but o the difference they can make if they grab hold of Jesus
Christ and serve Him with all that is within them. Serve Him beyond what we can
even begin to imagine. Revival would break out in this world. So what are we
waiting for?
Personally I am sick and tired of living a lukewarm,
half-hearted lifestyle, knowing I can make a difference, wanting to make a
difference, but still sitting on my butt waiting for it to be convenient and
still be in my comfort zone. Carrying the gospel of Jesus Christ requires being
out of our selfish comfort zone. Actually I am learning that disobeying God by
idly withholding the gospel from others, not doing what God has called me to do
is not comfortable at all, I am most comfortable when I am obeying God, so if I
really want to be in my comfort zone, I should obey God. And so should you.
I am convicted at my laziness. I can gripe all day about the mess this
world is in. I can place the blame on whoever I please, but the truth is I am
just as guilty as the next person for not taking a bold stand and proclaiming
the message of Jesus Christ.
Some people may say, “But you’re a girl..”
I’m so sick of that excuse card I could puke. I should know, I have used that
excuse for the past four almost five years it is ridiculous. The first person to
carrying the gospel of Jesus was Mary. (She carried Him in her womb) She
literally gave birth to the Gospel. All throughout the Bible God has used women,
what makes us think that has changed now in the 21st century? It hasn’t. Do
something to share Jesus with someone. Make a difference. Don’t be idle. Don’t
use the excuse, “Well, I’m a girl.” DUH! So you are a girl, God made you a girl,
He still expects you to spread His name to whomever you come in contact with,
whether it is by word, deed or both. Do something for crying out loud. This
generation needs Jesus!!!!!!!! I don’t want to be responsible for their souls
going to hell. I have family members I don’t want to be responsible for them
going to hell because I was to scared they would reject me, fuss and get mad if
I told them about Jesus. I would rather them get mad at me and never speak to me
again, than to know they went to hell because I didn’t tell them about Jesus.
It’s time we as Christians stop playing games, stop playing around. This is
serious business and we have been treating it like a walk in the park on a sunny
day, ice cream cone in one hand, balloon in another taking our own sweet time,
stopping to smell the flowers, hear the birds sing, watch the sunset in the sky,
but overlooking the garbage at our feet begging someone to clean it up. Sin is
everywhere, it is right under our noises threatening to squeeze the life out of
it’s captives, and it will, if we as the body of Christ don’t do something. What
do we do? We pray, we preach Jesus Christ crucified, died, buried and rose
again. We tell them of His unconditional love for them that lead Him to a cross
on a hill, shedding His blood for our sins so that we can be forgiven. We tell
them that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that
whoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life. That
whosoever calls on His name will be saved. We must do it. If we don’t who will?
If we don’t take a stand. Who will? Will the blood of the lost and dying be on
our hands? Will we be convicted of being passive Christians sucking our thumbs
and demanding a hand out, instead of being the salt and light we were called to
be?
Why are we playing games. Is the message not clear to us? Are we so
guilty of finding fulfillment in other things ourselves that we have become numb
to the truth too? Are we still wearing spiritual diapers? Are we not ready to be
promoted to solid food and be trusted to carry the precious gospel to all those
who will hear?
What is it going to take to raise up a generation who
loves God? Many do, and that is great! But what is it going to take to reach the
unreached, the ones still trapped in sin and misery, held captive in bondage by
satans evil lies, living their lives with a huge void in their lives they have
tried to fill on their own and cannot. We have to do something. We must. We
can’t let them go to hell. I don’t want to be responsible for souls going to
hell. I cannot be. I refuse to be. It’s my job to witness, it’s your job to
witness. Some will reject, some will follow. For those who reject, at least we
did our job and told them of Jesus Christ and that there is forgiveness for
their sins and a loving Father who is waiting with open arms to rescue them from
sins cold chains of bondage that grips their heart and wraps around their lives
so tight at times it feels as if they cannot breath.
I ask what is it
going to take to reach this generation. The answer, it is going to take us as
believers in Jesus Christ, reaching out and taking a stand, joining together to
proclaim JESUS is the way the truth and the life. Only through Him can a man or
woman be saved. Carrying the gospel of Jesus, letting the light of Christ shine
through us, being His hands and Feet. His vocal cords to reach the lost. That’s
what it is going to take.
What are you going to do about it?
