Paddy Anne is a tiny dog, she weighs 2lbs and a few ounces. Certain times of the day buzzards and hawks fly above our yard, when they see Paddy Anne they will fly over head and circle around, each time flying lower with her as their target. If I don’t pick her up I will stand near her so she is in my shadow. As long as Paddy Anne stands in my shadow she is hid and protected from the birds.
Reminds me of Psalm 91. Verses 1-4 reads Whoever dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” Surely he will save you from the fowler’s snare and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his feathers, and under his wings you will find refuge; His faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. (A rampart is a defensive wall) some translations read buckler, a round shield used for up close combat. The first shield mentioned is in reference to a large shield used in battle to hide behind.
Are y’all getting the picture? This makes me happy! If we dwell in the shelter of God, He will protect us from the enemy when he targets us!!
Isaiah 54:17 says that no weapon formed against us will prosper.
I am thankful I serve the One and Only true God who protects me, who saved me. Who loves me enough that He lets me dwell in His secret place and lets me rest in His shadow.
Amen
